Ted Lowe | Tuesday morning | Children’s building 2A
MarriedPeople is the marriage division of Orange, an organization focused on influencing the next generation. The goal of this three-hour pre-conference training is to give attendees the space to explore the Church’s role as it relates to marriages. More specifically, we’ll experience in real time the three facets of the MarriedPeople strategy: inspiring large groups, empowering small groups, and equipping individual couples. You’ll leave with a doable, tangible and well-equipped strategy of how to create and maintain a proactive marriage ministry in your church.
Introduction to Merge, Watermark’s Premarital Ministry
Scott Kedersha | Tuesday morning | Children’s building 2B
One of the key factors to a healthy marriage and family ministry is a strong premarital ministry. We call this approach playing good offense. What would happen in the local church if we focused our attention not only on those who are hurting, but on preparing seriously dating couples for engagement and engaged couples for marriage? An effective premarital ministry is a great way to build future marriages and reach those premarital couples in your community. The church can, and should, do so much more than we are currently doing. In this pre-conference session, you will learn that playing good offense, through building a solid foundation in premarital couples, is one of the best ways to have a healthy family ministry.
Introduction to Blended Family Ministry
Ron Deal | Tuesday afternoon | Children’s building 2A
Most marriage ministry programs completely neglect the needs of blended family couples. This workshop will help leaders, mentors, and pastoral counselors understand the unique dynamics of stepfamilies and why marital harmony is so elusive for stepcouples. The workshop will review research of over 50,000 couples forming stepfamilies and discuss implications for local church ministry. Leaders will also be trained to teach The Smart Stepfamily DVD, a practical 8-session DVD-based curriculum used in churches and communities around the world.
Introduction to Foundation Groups, Watermark’s Newly Married Ministry
Lance Sisco | Tuesday afternoon | Children’s building 2B
All too often we find ourselves being reactive when it comes to marriage ministry. Couples will usually show up at our churches at their moment of greatest pain, or they will sit quietly in isolation as their marriage slowly drifts apart. But what if we could get out in front of all the hurt and guide couples to community, and to truth that would deeply impact their marriages; establishing them for a lifetime of oneness and ministry? In this intensive we will discuss the unique opportunity the church has to mentor couples through the first few years of marriage by looking at Watermark’s newly married ministry, Foundation Groups. We will give you practical steps to help you integrate newly married ministry into what you’re currently doing to reach couples in your church.
